After a long almost two days of signing nobody, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman finally gets on the board with a new move.

NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe reports that the Eagles have signed cornerback Riq Woolen to a one-year contract. Woolen is going to get $15 million for the 2026 season.

Woolen was a former fifth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawk back in 2022. In 16 games last season, Woolen racked up 41 tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, 12 pass deflections, and one interception.

Woolen is a great pickup for the Eagles as they have had CB2 problems over the last year as they were stuck with Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo at the position. Ringo never got his footing with the job and Jackson was inconsistent, but played well late in the season.

Right off the bat, Woolen comes in as an instant starter and will be playing with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the secondary. This might be a strong enough move that the Eagles don't have to draft a cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Throughout the offseason, Woolen was attached to the Eagles as a possible destination in free agency. Coming off a Super Bowl title, he is a good fit for Vic Fangio's defense, as he is a physical corner who still has solid coverage. Also, he is young and has a chance to prove on his one-year deal that he should be a long-term starter for the Eagles if he has a great season.
