Overreactions Eagles fans shouldn't ignore before 2026 season

These would be great.

The Philadelphia Eagles have high hopes after a disappointing 2025 season that still ended with an NFC East title, but did not see them repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Going into the 2026 season, expectations have changed with all the moves they have made. A new coaching staff on offense with a completely remade wide receiver room is now putting some pressure on the Eagles to succeed.

It's also having Eagles fans thinking of big things that could happen in the 2026 season. Here are four overreactions that the fan base hopes happen in Philly.

Sean Mannion coaches a top-10 offense in first season as OC

The weapons are already in place for Mannion to have a lot of fun with the Eagles. He's got a top-five offensive line when fully healthy and has great players like Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Makai Lemon at his disposal.

Last year's unit finished in the bottom 15 in every offensive statistical category, including passing, rushing, total offense, and scoring. That will change as the total offense should be in the top-10, as well as rushing and scoring, since Mannion will know how to use these weapons the right way.

Jonathan Greenard returns to form with 12 sacks to lead Eagles

2025 was a fluke for Greenard, who dealt with injuries and did not perform as he usually does. Everyone knows, though, that he is capable of being one of the top pass rushers in the NFL after having over 12 sacks in 2023 and 2024 each.

Expect more of the same from him in Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's defense, as he hits the 12-sack mark again. That should secure a Pro Bowl selection for him and give Philly the pass rusher they have been looking for the last few seasons.

DeVonta Smith goes for over 1,300 yards and makes first All-Pro team

Smith's time is now to take over for A.J. Brown and prove that he can be a number-one receiver in an offense. Last season, he led the Eagles in receiving yards with 1,008, so he already had a taste of it, but after going over 1,000 yards in three of his five NFL seasons, the fan base has never seen him over 1,200 in a year.

That will change in 2026 as Smith will be the clear-cut leader in receiving yards and will notch over 1,300 yards on the year. That and catching 10 touchdowns should land him on the All-Pro team and put him in the conversation as a top-10 wide receiver in the NFL.

Jalen Hurts will set a new career-high in passing yards

This new offense is designed to help Hurts thrive, pushing him to new heights. Mannion will have Hurts throwing the ball more down the middle of the field, while adding new weapons like Marquise Brown, who can stretch the defense with his speed.

His previous high was 3,858 passing yards back in 2023. This season, Hurts will be able to exceed that and get the first 4,000-yard season of his career.
