It is not yet June 1, so we're going to continue delivering every update possible. As for the latest on the Philadelphia Eagles' presumed and impending trade involving wide receiver A.J. Brown, we now have some intel from a former New England Patriots Super Bowl winner.
Joining Kay Adams on her show Up & Adams, Jason McCourty dove into the latest on Brown and a trade. It should be noted that in the video clip posted to the show's X account, the caption read:
"A.J. Brown to the Patriots is 'almost a done deal,' according to inside sources."
As for what McCourty, himself, said? Here's all you need to know:
"All the people that are on the inside, and that they know, continue to echo the same sentiment, that he's going to be a New England Patriot."
It would be one thing for a former player, who has never played for New England, to come on and say something like that. At this point, let's be real ... we'd believe them. But, for McCourty to say it? He's connected to the organization.
One major detail of an impending A.J. Brown trade could flip it in favor of the Eagles
If this is already a "done deal," like McCourty is suggesting, then I am sure all Eagles fans are asking the exact same question. We know this is going to happen. But, what we don't know is what the return is going to be.
OK, so we might know the rumored return is going to be a first-round pick for the Eagles. However, there is one detail that could truly flip this in favor of the Eagles:
Is the first-round pick going to come in 2027 or 2028?
We have seen, heard and read plenty of speculation over just which year the pick is going to come. Obviously, it would greatly benefit the Eagles to get that pick in 2027, which is what Ian Rapoport has said the Eagles want.
That isn't a surprise, of course. Howie Roseman would be a god if he somehow landed the pick in 2027. Next year's class is absolutely loaded, and most notably, at the quarterback position.
No, this isn't about to be a Jalen Hurts debate.
The fact that next year's quarterback class could see several taken in the first round would end up benefiting the Eagles solely on the premise that they'd be able to wheel and deal even more.
Possessing two first-round picks next year would be fun. But, with all of the talk about Hurts potentially getting another contract after this season, Philadelphia could be in position to take a quarterback if they wanted to.
We will leave the speculation and debate for another day. But, the fact is this: giving Roseman multiple first-round picks in such a loaded class could be bad news for the league.

Will New England oblige? That's the big question.
