Nah we'll pass on that one.

Another interview down, another disappointing sigh from the Philadelphia Eagles fan base as the team tries to find their next offensive coordinator.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles have completed an interview with Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik for the open offensive coordinator job. Slowik was the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator for two seasons before being fired and taking the Miami job.

It was a promising start for the Texans in 2023, as Houston finished in the top 13 in points and yards under Slowik's first-year guidance as offensive coordinator. While 2024 wasn't bad, quarterback C.J. Stroud regressed, and Houston dropped to 22nd in yards and 19th in points.

Eagles interview Bobby Slowik for offensive coordinator job

Would Slowik be the worst pick for the job? Not necessarily, as he does have experience, and the Texans were a winning team under Slowik as the offensive coordinator, so he must have done something right while coaching there.

The concern is how much worse it got for him from Year 1 to Year 2, as the offense in Houston didn't improve. Philly can't afford to have that kind of problem after the 2025 offense took an absolute tumble with Kevin Patullo as the offensive coordinator in his only year in the role before getting removed.

One problem for the Eagles is that their options are starting to dwindle after Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll, and Zac Robinson have all essentially passed on the job. This leaves them with options that include average coordinators or first-time play callers, like Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.

This search won't be smooth, but the Eagles would be smart to interview as many people as possible to see if they can find a hidden gem.
