Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is back at it again with a second player they are going to sign.
The first move they made was cornerback Riq Woolen agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract. This time, they shifted the focus to the offense to give their offensive coordinator Sean Mannion his first new toy since joining the team.
NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported that the Eagles signed tight end Johnny Mundt to a one-year contract. Mundt spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings.
Eagles to sign tight end Johnny Mundt
The Eagles now have their blocking tight end they were missing over the last year. Grant Calcaterra filled that role for the Eagles and struggled, so Cameron Latu handled it more for the Birds.
Last season with the Jaguars, Mundt had just nine receptions for 111 yards. He has 658 yards and four touchdowns in his career.
This shouldn't be seen as Mundt is going to be the new replacement for Dallas Goedert as the starting tight end. The Eagles could still either bring Goedert back or look elsewhere to find on. In many NFL mock drafts, Philly has been predicted to select a tight end within the first three rounds of the draft.
Mundt should play a big factor in Mannion's offense to help in the running game and could be a solid red zone threat. Teams won't look at Mundt as a legit pass catching option and could leave him open, which would open the offense up.

The Eagles finally get a tight end, but still have a lot of work to do if they really want to solidify the position.
