The Philadelphia Eagles certainly walked away with a massive victory in the 2026 NFL Draft, putting together a strong class.
Most of the selections they made are certainly going to make some noise outside of Philly, but more within. The rookies being brought in have a strong chance to disrupt some of the veterans' tenures in the league.
There is one player on the Eagles' active roster who just got here, but might not be long for Philadelphia in the long term. If Eagles fans took a look at the edge rusher room, one new player might never actually take a snap for them.
Joe Tryon-Shoyinka might already be in jeopardy of making Eagles' 53-man roster
Tryon-Shoyinka just signed with the Eagles in March, as he was brought in to help with the depth of the edge rusher room that was already hit by Jaelan Phillips, Joshua Uche, and Azeez Ojulari leaving the team in free agency. He was expected to come in alongside fellow free agent signing Arnold Ebiketie to help be in the rotation off the edge.
That plan was complicated by the fact that the Eagles added two more edge rushers during the 2026 NFL Draft. On Day 2, the Eagles traded two third-round picks to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for 2024 Pro Bowler Jonathan Greenard, and in the seventh round, Philly selected New Mexico edge rusher Keyshawn James-Newby.
All of a sudden, Tryon-Shoyinka is now facing even more pressure to make the roster. Greenard is already a starter in the league and will be in the lineup for Philly. James-Newby is younger and has a lot to learn, but he has the potential to make the roster since the Eagles want to invest in younger players.
Tryon-Shoyinka had a promising start to his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as he had at least four sacks in each of the first three seasons. Over the last two years, though, he's bounced around the NFL and has only had two sacks.

All of a sudden, his chances of making the roster took a massive hit, and it is not looking good for Tryon-Shoyinka, who is trying to keep his career going. Greenard and James-Newby's arrival might be the final nail in the coffin for Tryon-Shoyinka and could be the end of a potentially very short run in Philly.
