With just a few days left until the potential trade involving Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown could happen, everyone is chiming in on their thoughts on every aspect of the move.
Despite the New England Patriots being the team expected to trade for Brown, there are still reports that other teams could be in the running, while others say no one else is talking to Philly. Another major aspect everyone is trying to figure out is what compensation the Eagles will receive for Brown.
CBS Sports contributor and former sports agent Joel Corry broke down every aspect of this potential Brown trade, including how his current contract impacts his future team. Corry also brought up the trade value, noting that a first-round pick is possible, but the worst-case scenario is not ideal.
"Philadelphia's worst-case scenario should be DK Metcalf-type trade compensation. The Steelers traded the equivalent of a second-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Metcalf in March 2026 and also gave him a four-year contract extension averaging nearly $33 million per year."
Should Eagles fans be okay with a second-round pick from an A.J. Brown trade?
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been adamant about the fact that he wants a first-round pick as part of the Brown trade. Reports have surfaced that the Patriots are hesitant to give up a first-round pick for Brown, with some suggesting the Eagles might have to settle for either a 2028 first-rounder or a second-round pick.
If the Eagles hadn't made the kind of moves at wide receiver that they did in the offseason, there might be a chance that Roseman would say no to a deal without a first-round pick and keep Brown on the team in 2026. Given what they have done, the Eagles are kind of stuck in a corner and need to make a move to get Brown off the team.
At the same time, though, the Patriots don't have a number one receiver to work with. Romeo Doubs was signed in the offseason, but he's not number-one receiver worthy, and New England did not draft a receiver at all, so they have a gap they need to fill at the position.

Roseman needs to stick to his guns and make sure he gets a first-round pick no matter what happens. Brown is better than a second-rounder, so if it doesn't work, keep Brown and live to fight another day.
