Eagles fans can't help but wonder the same post-draft A.J. Brown question

We are all thinking it.

Philadelphia Eagles fans are pretty much just waiting it out until their star receiver, A.J. Brown, is traded, with June 1 as the key date when things are going to heat up.

There has been a ton of talk about Brown being sent off to the New England Patriots, which is not the problem. The concern, or at least Eagles fans' biggest question, regarding Brown after the draft was perfectly asked by CBS Sports writer Tyler Sullivan: What will Philly get in return for A.J. Brown?

"At this point, it feels inevitable that A.J. Brown will be traded. The Eagles are merely wailing until June 1 to make it more financially palatable. So, instead of simply asking whether or not Brown will be traded, the far more interesting question at this stage is what Philadelphia will ultimately get in return. Given how highly regarded the 2027 NFL Draft is, getting a first-rounder next year in return for Brown seems unlikely, given his age (turns 29 next month) and injury history. However, could they get a high Day 2 pick and a player in return? Does Howie Roseman opt for a higher pick, albeit in 2028? The Athletic recently pondered that exact idea with the Patriots -- the most likely suitor for the pass catcher -- possibly trading a 2028 first-round pick for Brown or a 2027 second-rounder and a player (receiver Kayshon Boutte). Either one of those packages should be well-received by the Eagles, considering that they've seemingly reached the point of no return with Brown."

Eagles fans are wondering the same thing about the A.J. Brown trade potential

Most Eagles fans would prefer for the franchise to have a first-round pick of some kind, but it's starting to look more likely than not that they will have to settle for a 2028 first-rounder instead of a 2027 first-rounder. Next year's class is going to be strong, so Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will push more for the 2027 pick.

Honestly, if the Eagles are offered a 2027 second-rounder and Boutte, they should pass on it. Philly is already deep at wide receiver and really doesn't have to add another one. Stick to what the team has, and Roseman should push for the first-rounder.

If the second rounder has to be the pick, the player has to be better than that. The Eagles are giving up a three-time Pro Bowl and three-time second-team All-Pro selection, so they are hurting more out of the deal. That means New England had better cough up something better than that proposed deal.

There are going to be a lot of conversations over the next few weeks about what people think will happen as a result of this trade, but no one truly knows what the final result will be until it actually happens. It's better just to sit back and watch Roseman cook on this deal.
