The Dallas Cowboys have been known by Philadelphia Eagles fans for making some boneheaded decisions, but this one certainly takes the cake.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Cowboys signed veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Dallas will be the eighth team he has played for in his NFL career, as he has caught 219 receptions for 3,686 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Eagles fans might remember Valdes-Scantling as the man who helped them win a critical Monday night football showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs back in the 2023 season. Late in the fourth quarter, he dropped a wide-open pass that would have been a touchdown to potentially win the game for the Chiefs.
Cowboys signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling is just perfect news for Eagles
Eagles fans aren't going to complain about the Cowboys trying to get some "help" with the offense. Dallas has been going through some issues with their star receiver, George Pickens, who has yet to sign his franchise tag, leading many to believe a trade is not out of the question but unlikely.
It's just the latest head-scratching moment from the Cowboys, continuing to prove the franchise is just as drama-filled as the Eagles. The more problems they have off the field, though, the better it will be for the Eagles as they look to continue their NFC East dominance.
Philly has won the NFC East two years in a row, the first time that has happened within the division in over two decades. The Eagles enter the 2026 season as the favorites to win the division again, despite the Washington Commanders, New York Giants, and the Cowboys improving their teams over the offseason.
