Philadelphia Eagles fans are just banging their heads against a wall at this point after watching another poor offensive performance as they still got a 13-12 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

The offensive unit got 190 total yards of offense and got 16 of those in the second half off of 18 plays. Doesn't really get as bad as that despite the rainy weather in Buffalo.

After the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took the blame for the offensive struggles, which isn't too much of a surprise. What Sirianni said after that, though, is very telling about how he feels about his offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo.

“I put it on myself," Sirianni said via Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton. "I’ve got to help with some things there, with some things that I know we want to get called. [Patullo] did a good job in that first half. But I’ve got to help in that second half a little bit, get into some things we want to get called there.”

Is there some concern from Sirainni about Patullo finally creeping in public?

It has been known for the last month that Sirianni is being more hands-on with the offensive game planning. He has been outspoken in Eagles' offensive meetings and putting his stamp on what needs to happen with the unit, and that has shown better results of late.

That last second from Sirianni in the quote, though, shows that he now feels as though he has to be more involved in what play calls Patullo needs to make. That hasn't been discussed before, as Sirianni has trusted Patullo with the play calls.

Eagles fans shouldn't expect a change at the play-caller, as Patullo will hold on to that job for the rest of the season, but it does make some wonder what will happen moving forward. Could Sirianni overrule a play call that Patullo makes for one that he wants to run instead?

That might have to happen, as the Eagles' offensive numbers are in the bottom 10 of the NFL and continue not even to reach the 20th ranking. Something has to change, and it could be the next step in Sirianni's evolution, gaining more control of the offense.

It'll be exciting to see how Sirianni handles the offense the rest of the season, but even more telling will be what could be coming in the offseason after another massive step back for the unit.
