The Philadelphia Eagles traded for wide receiver Jahan Dotson just before the 2024 season, but he has not lived up to the expectations the team had for him.
Over the last two seasons, he racked up just 478 yards and one touchdown with the Eagles. After the season, it was clear that Dotson was no longer going to be on the team, and they needed to look elsewhere at wide receiver, and he needed a new home.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Dotson is heading south to play for the Atlanta Falcons, signing a two-year, $15 million contract. Dotson played two seasons for the Washington Commanders before hopping to the Eagles for the last two, winning the Super Bowl in 2024.
Eagles don't get Jahan Dotson back as he heads to Atlanta
Dotson, while he is a solid slot receiver in the NFL, just never flourished in the Eagles' offense and was often lost in the shuffle. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has liked to stick with A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert over the last few years as his top targets.
Many believed that if the Eagles had traded Brown, as many people outside the Eagles organization hoped would happen, Dotson might be brought back to move up to WR2. There was always a good chance that he would move on from the team, though.
Now the Eagles are left looking for a WR3 in the offense and potentially someone who could replace Brown in the future. Philly is most likely going to use the 2026 NFL Draft to get that done, using one of their picks in the first two days of the draft.

This will be a very unmemorable run for Dotson as he moves on to Atlanta and the Eagles look for his replacement now.
