Everyone in Philly is waiting in anticipation for the Philadelphia Eagles to get a trade completed with star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
While Eagles fans know that the New England Patriots are the favorites to land him, Philly might be too hesitant to make the trade due to the fact that they are facing a $20 million loss with a Brown trade before June 1. NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo gave an update on how the trade is going for the Eagles and detailed how general manager Howie Roseman is trying to get creative with the deal, but gives a now much different timeline for this to be done.
"It's a very complicated one, (Howie) Roseman's trying to find a solution, we'll see if he can before the start of the league year. If not, this will be something before the draft and maybe in the future that we'll talk about."
Latest on lingering A.J. Brown trade talks
Roseman is trying to figure out a way to execute part of the trade now and, after June 1, send Brown to the Patriots or whoever else is part of the trade talks. It has been reported that while the Patriots are the leaders, the Los Angeles Chargers have also been involved in checking in on Brown. There were also talks about which first-round pick the Eagles would get from the Patriots, whether it's a 2026 or 2027.
Last season, a report surfaced after the Eagles' Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers that Brown had requested a trade multiple times throughout the season, starting with the Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Brown finished the 2025 season with his worst numbers since joining the Eagles in 2022, with 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
Brown's unhappiness began in 2024, when the offense was running the ball more with 2,005-yard rusher Saquon Barkley. There was reported tension between Brown and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts because of it, which sparked trade rumors that spread to the 2025 trade deadline, when many thought (and were wrong about) Brown being traded.

This is going to be a long process, from what it sounds like, unless the Patriots or whoever else can find a way to offset the financial burden the Eagles will face. At this point, no one knows whether Brown will be traded, but the end is not near as fans thought.
