As the Philadelphia Eagles continue moving into the 2026 season, they have signed another player from the United Football League.

After the Eagles signed wide receiver Erik Ezukanma of the D.C. Defenders, Philadelphia is also bringing in defensive back Shaun Wade per multiple sources.

Wade was recently with the Dallas Renegades of the UFL, being coached by Rick Neuheisel this past spring. A former fifth-round pick out of Ohio State in 2021, Wade had spent parts of five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens (2021), New England Patriots (2021-2023), Los Angeles Chargers (2024), and, most recently, the Chicago Bears.

Eagles add another UFL player in Shaun Wade

Wade suffered an injury during training camp in 2025 with Chicago, which eventually led to his release from injured reserve. He would be drafted by the Dallas Renegades in January of 2026, eventually becoming one of the UFL's more effective defensive backs. Wade totaled 27 tackles, five pass breakups, and three interceptions through nine games in his first season in the UFL.

The acquisition of Wade gives the Eagles a bit of youthful reserve option in the secondary compared to this past season. Last year, the Eagles relied on Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson at CB2 after injuries began to mount in their secondary.

With the signing of Wade, Philadelphia inserts competition into a portion of the roster that was tested last season and ultimately fell short of expectations. In addition to Wade's UFL experience, the former Ohio State alum has also appeared in 20 games from 2021 to 2023, registering 26 tackles and one pass breakup.

Wade is now the second UFL player the Eagles are taking a chance on, joining Ezukanma. Last season, the Eagles signed Defensive Lineman Jacob Sykes, who would spend several weeks on the practice squad. The Eagles have yet to announce a corresponding move with the signing of Wade so far.
