The Philadelphia Eagles are counting their blessings since trading away edge Haason Reddick in the 2024 offseason, as the trade has now been finalized.
At the time, Reddick was traded to the New York Jets, with the Eagles getting a conditional 2026 mid-round selection. The final pick depended on Reddick playing 67.5% of the snaps and having 10 sacks in 2024; with neither happening, the Eagles landed a third-round pick.
Philly ended up having the 68th overall pick from the trade, and they used it on Miami offensive tackle Markel Bell. The Eagles selected one of the biggest players in the draft, who stands 6-foot-9 and nearly 350 pounds.
Eagles feeling good about that Haason Reddick deal now that it's complete
Since Reddick has left the Eagles in that trade, things have not gone well for the veteran. He's played in just 23 games in two seasons and racked up 3.5 sacks with the Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reddick is currently a free agent.
As for the Eagles, they get a potential successor to Lane Johnson at right tackle in the next year or two. Even if he's not, Philly gets a great depth piece at offensive line and could develop into a solid player in the NFL.
There's no denying that Reddick was great in his two seasons with the Eagles, as he racked up 27 sacks and helped the franchise make the Super Bowl in 2022. Reddick was unhappy the Eagles weren't giving them a contract extension, but that ended up being one of the best moves that general manager Howie Roseman has made in the last five years.
