There's still over a month to go before training camp gets underway for the Philadelphia Eagles, but a rumor going around in the NFC East might already cause a headache for the division.
The latest rumor that Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox addressed in the division comes out of the nation's capital with the Washington Commanders. Knox urged to keep an eye on the Commanders and the possibility of bringing in a hometown guy to the team: wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
"Diggs would be a sensible target for the Washington Commanders, who have yet to re-sign Deebo Samuel and who are reportedly looking for a No. 2 option opposite Terry McLaurin."
"Adding a proven vet like Diggs would make a ton of sense. If the Commanders don't make another addition to their receiver room, though, they'll likely turn to Treylon Burks or rookie Antonio Williams for the No. 2 role."
Stefon Diggs joining the Commanders would not be good for the Eagles
Washington would no doubt get better as a team if the Commanders found a way to bring in Diggs. He has had a successful NFL career so far with four Pro Bowl and one All-Pro selection in 11 seasons.
Philly should absolutely look out to see what the Commanders do there, but it shouldn't worry them too much. It helps the Eagles have two All-Pros in the secondary with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean back there. They should be able to handle the veteran receiver well enough.
The Commanders have not been an easy opponent for the Eagles, though, as they have split the regular season series in the last two years. Philly last won both games in the regular season in 2023, but the Eagles did beat the Commanders twice in three matchups in 2024 after beating them in the NFC title game, which led to a Super Bowl win.

If the Commanders feel they need to add Diggs to help their offense, they are more than welcome to do. The Eagles aren't going to be too concerned, as it will add more work to their game planning, but the confidence is there that they can shut him down.
