Tryon-Shoyinka was seen as a depth piece to the edge rusher room, but signs were there that something was happening as A.J. Epenesa was signed last week to be his replacement. While the Eagles losing Tryon-Shoyinka is a tough loss to the position, there is now an open door for one of the younger players to take his spot.
Guys like Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Epenesa, and Arnold Ebiketie are locks to make the 53-man roster, but there might be one more spot open to add another edge rusher if the Eagles wanted to. A rookie could be the one taking that final roster slot.
Eagles rookie Keyshawn James-Newby might have gotten his opening to make the team
James-Newby was selected in the seventh round by the Eagles in this year's draft as one of the three defenders the team picked in that same round. There has been less buzz around him compared to the other seventh-round picks, Cole Wisniewski and Uar Bernard, though.
At New Mexico last year, James-Newby showed that he can be a consistent pass rusher with 52 tackles, nine sacks, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles. While it might not have been at one of the power-four conferences, he proved he could be a rotational player at the NFL level.
There is a chance the Eagles might only carry five edge rushers, but James-Newby has enough potential that the team could leave a roster spot open for him. His quickness might be of good use on special teams, which is how many rookies in his same spot have made the team.

With less competition now at edge rusher, James-Newby went from being a lock to be on the practice squad to being able to sneak in as a 53-man member.
