When 31 NFL general managers get a call from Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, they know they are about to get fleeced in some kind of trade.

Roseman is widely regarded as the best GM in the NFL for his ability to negotiate good deals and the way he works the salary cap to the Eagles' advantage. During a recent interview with Kevin Clark on the "This is Football" podcast, Clark asked which opponent scares Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach, and he seemed to assume he knew what everyone would say.

"I mean, I'm sure everyone that you ask that question says Howie, but I have a good relationship with Howie, and it's really an ultimate sign of respect because, I mean, he's so smart, and no one kind of navigates draft day and the draft board like Howie. So he's the man. It's one of those things where he calls, you just got to just double-check your draft board, your evaluation. You know, the trade values because he's locked in. But I was thankful I had a chance to learn from him. So absolutely, a lot of respect for him. But when he calls, I think that you're just double-checking your notes."

Everyone always thinks Howie Roseman first on opponents to fear

Why wouldn't the NFL fear Roseman? Look at the deals he has made in the past to ensure his team gets a good deal in the process.

Just this offseason alone shows how Roseman worked the phones to his team's advantage. The Eagles traded wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots and still landed a first-round pick in the process. Even the Jonathan Greenard trade from the Minnesota Vikings was genius, as Roseman only had to give up two third-round picks.

It's gotten to the point that when Roseman calls, any NFL team will be hesitant to make a deal with him because they know he is going to get them in some capacity. Veach knows this better than anyone, as they recently made a deal in the 2025 NFL Draft that saw the Eagles move up one spot in the first round to select linebacker Jihaad Campbell, who should have been a top-15 pick.

Roseman hasn't lost his touch at all over the years and continues to strike great deals for the Eagles. As long as NFL general managers keep picking up the phone, he will not stop his reign of terror in coming up with the perfect deal for his team.
