Any time a player might be in the open market, everyone assumes that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will be making a call to get a trade done.

This might be in instances where it might make sense for Roseman to make a call in the offseason, as the Las Vegas Raiders made headlines the day after Christmas. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported that Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby left the facilities after the team told him he would not play the rest of the season, despite his wanting to play.

The Raiders appear to be trying to protect Crosby from further injury, as he has been battling through injuries all season for Las Vegas. Crosby, being the ultimate competitor despite the record, doesn't seem happy with the decision.

Door just swung wide open for Roseman to bring Crosby to Philly

Crosby is having another great season with 73 tackles, 29 pressures, 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, 10 sacks, six pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and one interception. He was just selected to his fifth straight Pro Bowl.

Making a trade for Crosby would actually be very simple for any NFL team. He only has a $5 million dead cap in 2026 and doesn't have anything else in the final two years of his deal through the 2028 season. Financially, this is one where anyone can place a trade on his behalf.

This is where Roseman can use his magic to try to come up with a trade that would make sense for both sides. It would most likely require two first-round picks to get Crosby, which seems like a good deal for a defensive end at the prime of his career at age 28.

There's the other option of just making it one first-round pick and giving up a younger talent to get him. The Eagles would most likely have to part ways with either Nolan Smith Jr. or Jalyx Hunt if they want to make that option work.

For Philly, they don't want to lose good young talent like that until their contracts expire, so giving up two first-round picks makes more sense. The Eagles have proven their scouting department has done a good job of finding talent in the draft.

Also, let's not forget what Crosby said about playing in Philadelphia earlier this month. He enjoyed his time there and appreciates the fans. That could end up being a match made in Heaven.

One phone call from Roseman would not be the end of the world to see what kind of deal can be struck, as this could be the Eagles' shot at getting an elite edge rusher when they missed on Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett this year.
