We've now seen a couple of recent games with Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith at Jalen Hurts' disposal. That has led us to a conclusion we're sure you've also drawn. If the Philadelphia Eagles can ever get their entire offensive unit on the field together and generate some chemistry, this is a unit that could become a well-oiled machine.
Sadly, that won't happen this week.
Their starting left tackle (Jordan Mailata) and right guard (Mekhi Becton) won't be playing. The same is true of Dallas Goedert and defensive tackle Byron Young. Welcome to a typical week in the NFL.
Becton and Goedert were ruled out of the coming game this past Friday. After practicing for the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday and Thursday, one of their star receivers, Tee Higgins, landed on Cincy's injury report.
Philly added Young to their injured reserve a few minutes after ruling him out. Higgins was ruled out before this contest.
The Eagles announce a roster elevation on Saturday.
For the first time this season, rookie wide receiver Ainias Smith is active. The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Saturday, less than 24 hours before kickoff of their next game, that they have added him to the 53-man roster from their injured reserve.
Football is a demolition derby. Byron Young's addition to the IR means the Eagles have six guys on that list. John Ross is on the practice squad's injured reserve.
Philly and Cincy are required to announce game day inactives 90 minutes before kickoff. Here's a look at the full report for both teams.
