The season is over for the Philadelphia Eagles, and now the dreaded locker room cleanout begins to send the team into the offseason.

Usually, they are final goodbyes between players and coaches, while it's one last chance for the media to talk to the players before they lose access to them. Not much drama usually comes from these things, but of course, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts gives a simple answer and lets the conversation begin.

One reporter was blunt and asked Hurts if he wants to run it back with Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo another season after speculation and calls for him to be fired. The answer to the question, though, wasn't exactly him backing up Patullo.

"It's too soon to think about that, and I like I said, I put my trust in Howie (Roseman), Nick (Sirianni), and Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie."

Jalen Hurts gave a non-answer to the Kevin Patullo question

Every Eagles fan knows the regular season numbers for the offense in Patullo's first season as the offensive coordinator:

  • 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game)
  • 23rd in passing (194.3 yards per game)
  • 18th in rushing (116.9 yards per game)
  • 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game)

The far-reaching hope was that the offense would look somewhat better in the NFC Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers, and they could get hot at the right time. Nope. Didn't happen.

After 13 points and 188 yards of offense in the first half, the offense did what it does best and completely crumbled in the second half. They have six points and 114 yards in the second half, with 87 yards coming on the final two drives of the game, and the unit has three three-and-outs in the half as the Eagles lost to the 49ers 23-19.

For the season, Hurts wasn't terrible under Patullo, but he didn't make the kind of strides he did in his only year under Kellen Moore in 2024. Hurts had a career-high in touchdown passes with 25, but his completion percentage dropped from 68% in 2024 to 64% in 2025.

There have been frustrations from Hurts this season on offense, and the Week 3 Rams game is the example that showed him physically upset. He was loud with some coaches, including Patullo, who sparked the Eagles' comeback from 19 points down and helped them win the game.

The early reports are not good for Patullo, as the Eagles are looking to make major changes to the offensive coaching staff. Hurts probably doesn't love the idea of yet another new play caller, but this one must happen for the Eagles to get back into Super Bowl contention in 2026.
