The Philadelphia Eagles are clearly making it a point to make sure they are getting offensive weapons for new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.

After landing wide receiver Makai Lemon in the first round, the Eagles were not done on offense. With the 54th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers.

Last season at Vanderbilt, he caught 62 passes for 769 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 12.4 yards per reception. He was an unanimous All-American selection, first-team All-SEC selection, and won the John Mackey Award for the nation's best tight end.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is proving that he's cooking once again as he was able to land one of the top tight ends in the draft. Stowers is a great athlete and a stellar receiver at the tight end position.

At the NFL Combine, Stowers was the second fastest tight end there as he ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash. He also did well in the vertical and broad jump.

He instantly will be compete with Dallas Goedert for the starting job in 2026, but will no doubt be replacing Goedert at some point in 2027. The Eagles will have a challenge with deciding on which tight ends to keep with Grant Calcarterra, Johnny Mundt, and Stone Smartt also in the room.

Mannion was needing more weapons on offense and Roseman has provided some great young talent with Lemon and Stowers now being able to help the passing game. The next step is to help with the offensive line and getting ready for a Lane Johnson retirement in the near future.

Overall, this is an excellent move for the Eagles as they get much better on offense.
