The Philadelphia Eagles have once again lost another key defensive player, but while this one won't get talked about as much, it is a loss for the team.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that former Eagles edge rusher Josh Uche will sign with the Miami Dolphins on a one-year contract. Uche played just one season with the Eagles after signing a one-year contract with Philly last offseason.

In 12 games, Uche racked up 23 tackles, three quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass deflection last year. Uche had an outstanding Pro Football Focus grade of 85.1, with 23 pressures and 21 hurries as a member of the Eagles.

The Eagles are now down four defensive players from last year's team. Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean have all landed new homes after being starters last year.

Uche feels like a different kind of loss for the Eagles, as even though he didn't play much late in the season and only had one sack, he was one of the best pass rushers on the Eagles. In the first half of the season, he was leading the way in pressures and hurries, but the addition of Phillips and Brandon Graham moved Uche down the depth chart and made him more of a special teams player.

It's good that Uche is going to a place where he will have a chance to play, as he showed some flashes of good play in the first half of the season. The Eagles were bound to move on as they might be looking to get younger at edge rusher to join Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith.

Watch out for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to look at the trade market to add an edge rusher as well. Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is the big name the Eagles could trade for.

Uche was actually a solid one-year rental for the Eagles and will play the same kind of role with the Dolphins in 2026.
