The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to add some youth to their roster, as they are among the youngest teams in the NFL, and will use the 2026 NFL Draft to do so.
One of the concerns this Eagles roster has is that they need a starting safety from the draft, as they have yet to replace Reed Blankenship, who has departed for the Houston Texans. Andrew Mukuba showed promise, but the Eagles still need to add another safety to compete for the other starting safety job.
FanSided's Ryan Fowler reported that the Eagles might have their target in the draft with South Carolina safety Jalon Kilgore scheduled for a 30 visit. Last season with the Gamecocks, Kilgore was a second-team All-SEC selection, racking up 54 tackles, 10 pass deflections, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.
Eagles to visit with Jalon Kilgore
Kilgore is seen as a late first-round pick in the second round of the NFL Draft. He has playmaking ability to break up passes and make strong tackles.
Philly is desperate for a safety, and the idea of Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio developing a safety would be more intriguing to him than bringing in a veteran to step in. The only exception would be re-signing Marcus Epps to the team; otherwise, Fangio would want to just work with a rookie like Kilgore to grow within the roster.
This is an important draft for the Eagles as they have a lot of pieces in place for the offense that need some young players, and the defense has been filled with draft picks from the last five years that have been hits. The future of the franchise can be defined by what they do with their draft picks.

Kilgore could be a guy who makes fans forget about Blankenship and gives them a future long-term solution in the secondary.
