Another leak is out for the Philadelphia Eagles, and this one will give the fan base either an early Christmas gift or ruin their holiday before it even gets started.

The X account "NFL Nerd" reported that the Eagles will host the Houston Texans in a Thursday-night Christmas Eve battle in Week 16. This will be the seventh meeting between the two teams as the Eagles have won all six games against Houston.

Philly hasn't played Houston since 2022, when they also faced off on Thursday night in the middle of the season. The Eagles won that game in Houston 29-17.

The Eagles will face the Houston Texans in Week 16 of the 2026 NFL season

This is an intriguing matchup as the Eagles are playing a completely different team from the one they faced in 2022. Houston now has CJ Stroud as their quarterback and head coach DeMeco Ryans has revamped that defense to be one of the best in the NFL.

One tough aspect of this game is that it will be the first time the Eagles play against their long-time starting safety, Reed Blankenship. During the offseason, Blankenship signed with the Texans after starting his NFL career with the Eagles.

The Eagles lost a big piece of their defense with Blankenship's departure, but they still have one of the best units in the NFL, as well as the Texans. This game has the makings of a defensive battle as both teams will be banged up and coming off short weeks on a holiday.

At this point in the year, it will be a good barometer of where the Eagles stand heading into the final three games of the season. The hope is that a playoff spot will already be clinched, but the Texans will make it hard.
