Many Philadelphia Eagles fans have been pushing the team to consider a change in their kicker, Jake Elliott, after his recent struggles.
Elliott has not hit over 80% of his field goals in each of the last two seasons; in 2025, he converted only 74%, the second-lowest of his NFL career. While the Eagles decided to restructure Elliott's contract to keep him in 2026, it has not stopped the noise from the fan base to do something about the kicker position.
NFL reporter Arye Pulli had an interesting update as the Eagles were reportedly in attendance for UTSA's Pro Day to check out kicker Jaffer Murphy. During the Pro Day, Murphy dominated with a 4.47 40-yard dash time while also converting a 70-yard field goal, going 12 of 13 on his field goals. He only made one extra point last season with UTSA.
Eagles could be interested in Jaffer Murphy
The Eagles need to bring in competition, as there have been signs throughout the offseason that a kicker could be in play. One of Philly's special teams assistants helped the specialist at the NFL Combine with running drills, checking out the kickers.
Murphy is an interesting prospect who feels more like a kickoff specialist, but could be a solid kicker. He's the type of player the Eagles wouldn't need to use any draft picks on him, as he could come in as an undrafted free agent.
Philly fans may not care too much about who they bring in as long as Elliott has some competition. The frustration of his struggles has boiled over among the Eagles fan base, who just want a solution.
