Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Nolan Smith Jr. is finding himself in hot water with the law as the team is less than a week away from OTAs getting underway.

The Georgia Gazette was the first to report that Smith was arrested in Georgia on Friday, accused of speeding and reckless driving. According to ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus, Smith was driving up to speeds of 135 mph in a 70 mph zone. McManus added that he made bond and was released shortly after the arrest, and that a future court date has been set.

Smith is a former first-round pick of the Eagles back in 2023 and has played the last three seasons with the franchise. In 2024, he had a career-high 6.5 sacks, but he is coming off a down year that included an injury that derailed part of the 2025 season. The Eagles just picked up his fifth-year option on his contract last month.

This is a big season for Smith, as he is looking to make a better impression than he did last year, when he had three sacks in 12 games. The triceps injury cost him multiple games, and he ultimately missed five total during the regular season.

Philly put a lot of faith in Smith by picking up the fifth-year option, which will pay him over $13 million in 2027. What he does in 2026 will determine what the team does with Smith beyond the 2027 season.

Eagles fans will have to see how this all plays out, but Smith and company will be on the field Tuesday for OTAs, where more questions will need to be answered afterward.
