If Philadelphia Eagles fans thought the offensive coordinator search was not going well, they have not seen anything yet.

The Eagles have already lost out on candidates like Mike McDaniel, Zac Robinson, Bobby Slowik, and Arthur Smith, who all talked to Philly about the opening. They can now knock out another candidate they didn't even get to talk to.

ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler shared that the Eagles had requested an interview with Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, but the Cowboys denied Philly. Adams just finished his first season as the offensive coordinator with Dallas, where they ranked second in total offense, but he did not call the plays; that was handled by head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Eagles get denied to interview Cowboys OC

First of all, why would the Eagles think Dallas would let him interview Adams for the job? This is a lateral move for Adams, and while this would be a play-calling offensive coordinator role in Philly, Dallas is not going to help the Eagles out by giving them a good coach.

Some people will wonder why the Eagles didn't deny their defensive backs coach, Christian Parker, from interviewing with the Cowboys for their defensive coordinator role before Dallas hired him. That's because NFL teams can't deny interviews that would be a promotion, and that is what Parker got with the Cowboys.

This was a confusing move by the Eagles, as there was no way the Cowboys would ever allow that to happen; they are not in the business of helping their rivals. Everyone can understand that the Eagles are casting a wide net for the offensive coordinator job, but they need to be a little more realistic with it.

Among the coaches they have reportedly interviewed, there are still some good options out there for the Eagles to pick, including Jim Bob Cooter, Mike Kafka, Brian Daboll, and Declan Doyle. Those are the guys Philly needs to stay focused on.

This is one of those moments Eagles fans would like to forget, but the fan base knows better: the Cowboys fans will hold this over their heads for the offseason.
