Well, everyone thought the offensive coordinator search was going badly for the Philadelphia Eagles. Their current coaching staff just lost someone to the worst team possible.
NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported the Dallas Cowboys are set to hire Eagles secondary coach and passing game coordinator Christian Parker as their new defensive coordinator. Parker had been interviewing with several teams for their defensive coordinator roles.
It is not a surprise, as Parker has been a popular name to watch after his work in making two 2024 draft picks, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, into All-Pros for the first time in 2025. The Eagles were in the top five in the NFL in pass defense, and Parker played a major role in helping the team win the Super Bowl in 2024.
Dallas Cowboys steal Christian Parker from the Eagles
What a horrible way to lose such a great coach as Parker has been a rising star in the NFL over the last few years. He got a lot of attention after serving as the Denver Broncos' defensive backs coach from 2021 through 2023, before Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio brought Parker with him to Philadelphia.
Besides the work that Parker did with Mitchell and DeJean, he was able to navigate through a tough situation at CB2 and turned Adoree' Jackson into a respectable starter by the end of the season. Parker also helped Andrew Mukuba develop into the starting safety in his rookie year and helped Reed Blankenship improve his pass coverage down the stretch.
Now, after having to find a new offensive coordinator, the Eagles are left looking for a new defensive backs coach to keep building on the success of Mitchell and DeJean. Of all the position coaches, Parker was always going to be the most difficult to replace.

This is a tough moment for the Eagles, but Fangio will now be put to the test to find Parker's replacement quickly.
