Most NFL owners are not involved in what goes on with their franchises or how their football operations are run, but Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is an exception to the rule, and fans are lucky that he is.

ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley examined the effects of NFL owners who are more hands-off versus those who are more involved to determine which approach works best. Hensley talked about how Lurie's involvement with the Eagles has actually been a good thing for the team.

"One of the most active owners is the Philadelphia Eagles' Jeffrey Lurie, who is a student of the quarterback position and will make trips to watch players in person at times. He was influential in the selection of quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 draft, sources said at the time. Philadelphia was financially committed to Carson Wentz, but Lurie believes in investing heavily in the position. As one source put it, he didn't want to miss out on a playmaker such as Hurts after failing to land another coveted quarterback in Russell Wilson eight years before. The move proved to be the unofficial end to the Wentz era, but it worked out quite well for the Eagles over the long term. In six seasons, Hurts has helped Philadelphia to a pair of Super Bowl appearances, winning one."

Jeffrey Lurie has proven that he should be move involed with the Eagles

Lurie bought the Eagles in the mid-90s, at the end of the Randall Cunningham era, when things were not looking so great for them. It was Lurie's hiring of head coach Andy Reid that completely changed the franchise's fortunes, turning them into winners.

Since Lurie bought the team in 1994, the Eagles have made the playoffs 20 times, appeared in eight NFC Championship Games and four Super Bowls, and won two Super Bowls. He has been heavily involved in the team's roster decisions, including pushing for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to build a "quarterback factory" with as much talent as possible.

Not many owners are like Lurie, but he has proven without a shadow of a doubt that he is the right man for the Eagles and should be considered one of the best owners in professional sports. The Eagles are a winner because of what Lurie has done with letting the team construct the roster the way they have.
