Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman hasn't always made the right decision, but one mistake he made in the past could help the team out for the future.
Brace for impact Eagles fans, but remember Bryce Huff? Yes, that Huff who had 13 tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games last year. He can actually make a difference for the Birds in 2026.
As part of the offseason trade that saw Huff be shipped off to the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles got a conditional 2026 fifth-round pick that could turn into a fourth-round pick if he has eight sacks on the season. While the chips are stacked against the Eagles, there is an outsider's shot at getting it.
What Eagles need from Huff to earn that 49ers 2026 fourth-round pick
This season, Huff has started seven of the 14 games he has appeared in. He currently has 30 tackles, 27 pressures, 15 quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. The most important stat to follow, though, is the sacks, which he has four.
Yeah, not a significant number to see, especially since he has to double his sack numbers on the season in one game if the Eagles want that fourth-round pick. The 49ers are facing off against one of the best teams in the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks, to close out the year, so Eagles fans shouldn't hold their breath on Huff out of nowhere having a career game.
Philly's chances at getting that higher pick don't seem that great at this point of the season, as Huff hasn't recorded a sack since October 19 against the Atlanta Falcons. The dream of that fourth-round selection appears to be just a fever dream that won't come true.

If it makes Eagles fans feel any better, they will have a shot at playing the 49ers in the NFC Wild Card, so Philly might dish out that revenge on that front.
