Trash talking is part of the NFL game, but Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell seemed to be on the right side of it.

Netflix released the new season of its series "Quarterback," a documentary that follows a group of NFL quarterbacks throughout the year, capturing moments on and off the field. One of the signal-callers getting attention was Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, and his section of the documentary showed him trading words with Mitchell against the Eagles last season

Mayfield: “Who the f*** are you, anyway?”

Mitchell: “You know who I am.”

Mayfield: “No, I don’t.”

Quinyon Mitchell made Baker Mayfield pay for that trash talk

Just a quick reminder of what happened in that game: the Eagles took care of business, beating the Buccaneers 31-25. Mayfield finished 22-of-40 for 289 yards and two touchdowns to one interception.

How did Mitchell do in the game? Well, he only allowed two completions out of nine targets (a 22.2% completion percentage) for a whopping six yards and a passer rating of 39.6. Oh, and Mitchell got five pass deflections and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after the game.

What's funny is that in the same game, Mayfield also took on Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter in a bit of trash talk. Mayfield was caught on camera repeatedly asking Carter if he had learned from the spitting incident that led to his ejection from Philly's Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the season.

Again, while Carter did not have his best season, he also got the last laugh over Mayfield, as he was selected to his second straight Pro Bowl in his three-year NFL career. Mayfield not only failed to make the Pro Bowl, but also could not lead his team into the playoffs.

Looking at Mitchell's results from the 2025 season, he had 45 tackles, 17 pass deflections, and one fumble recovery in 16 games, while also allowing a completion percentage of 44.3% and a passer rating of 64.3. He made the Pro Bowl and was selected as an All-Pro in just his second season in the NFL.

What's the moral of the story? If someone is going to do that much trash talk, they better back it up so they don't get embarrassed in front of millions of people. Mayfield learned that the hard way with Mitchell and Carter.
