As long as Jalen Hurts is with the Philadelphia Eagles, it seems as though this topic is just never going to go away.
Love him or hate him, Hurts has been a winning quarterback in Philadelphia, yet many believe the Eagles should consider finding a new franchise quarterback in one way or another.
And, as it pertains to the 2026 NFL Draft, there are certainly some hot takes out there.
On the air with 94WIP, Joe Giglio outlined exactly how and why the Eagles need to give Hurts some competition.
"I think it would be smart if the Eagles take a quarterback in the first two days of the draft, specifically Day 2 ... On Day 2, the Eagles have three picks on Friday night ... I think it would be smart," he started.
"They're obviously uncertain about Jalen Hurts' future [and] this is literally how they got Jalen Hurts to begin with," Giglio said.
I'll give Giglio that second part. Yes, this is precisely how the Eagles ended up with Hurts in the first place: drafting a quarterback on Day 2.
The Philadelphia Eagles drafting a quarterback early would be make absolutely zero sense
However, let's cover a couple of reasons why this take is simply absurd.
First of all, there aren't any quarterback prospects who compare to Hurts when he was coming out of Oklahoma. Hurts was a proven winner and a guy who had quite the pedigree. Hurts was a national champion with Alabama in 2017, and then, in his final year playing for the Sooners, he led the conference in completion percentage, passing touchdowns, and yards per attempt.
Hurts' dynamic ability was one which thrived on the national stage.
On Day 2 of this draft, the closest you might find are the likes of Carson Beck or Garrett Nussmeier. Beck is nowhere near ready for the pros and probably never will be, because he lacks the mental fortitude that it takes.
Nussmeier may show the most promise of any Day 2 candidate, but he still doesn't come with as much buzz as Hurts did.
Secondly, the Eagles already have Tanner McKee, whom they're high on. Not to mention, they recently traded for Andy Dalton. So, their quarterback room is set for 2026. There should be zero interest in any quarterbacks by Howie Roseman.

It might be fun for Giglio to toss these crazy ideas or hot takes out there, but Eagles fans know better. This isn't happening, period.
