Every Philadelphia Eagles fan is fascinated to see how quarterback Jalen Hurts looks in Sean Mannion's offense in the hopes that he will do better than he did with Kevin Patullo last year.

Reporters in Philly finally got a chance to see Hurts and the Eagles at practice for the first time since the offseason began. 94 WIP Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks returned with his practice stats on Hurts, as he had him completing 11 of 14 with zero touchdowns and interceptions, giving him a grade of B for the practice.

"Jalen Hurts spent a decent portion of the practice on Wednesday under center, both handing the ball off and passing it. That alone is noteworthy as the offense begins to install new concepts and a new scheme that will require him to be under center. Hurts' best throw of the day was to Dallas Goedert in a tight window. It wasn’t directly over the middle, but it wasn’t along the sidelines, and it did come from under center. It was kind of the poster of what everyone is hoping to see in the new offense — under center, tight window throw to a tight end.

Overall, I think the most encouraging part of the practice was that Hurts did spend a good portion under center and threw from under center. The throws themselves are almost secondary to that at this point of the offseason."

Jalen Hurts is getting off to a fast start at practice with Eagles

This is a good sign that Hurts is showing off right away that he is comfortable with being under center. That has been a major focus for everyone, since Mannion is going to be doing a lot more of that with him than they did with Patullo last year.

The crazy part was that the Eagles were actually successful from under center throughout last year, but Patullo didn't run enough of those kinds of plays. It was more shotgun than anything, which left Eagles fans frustrated with his play-calling.

Keep in mind that this is only OTAs, so a lot can change over the next few months, but it appears that Hurts is off to a much quicker start than he was last year. The Eagles' offense is getting into rhythm quicker, which is a good sign that Mannion has the full attention of his offense.
