Eagles reporter might have given perfect suggestions on who are best trade baits

Yeah they should leave.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been quiet on the trade market this offseason when it comes to getting rid of players.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman really only dealt safety Sydney Brown away as part of the trade with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason. Roseman, though, did trade for multiple veterans, including quarterback Andy Dalton and edge rusher Jaelan Phillips.

There are still other options for the Eagles to move players off the current roster. Are any of them worth moving, and if they are, what kind of compensation would they get for them?

Eagles reporter has three names to watch as trade bait

Philly Voice Eagles reporter Jimmy Kempski has three names he suggested as good trade bait candidates for the team. The name at the top of the list that every Eagles fan would agree on is cornerback Kelee Ringo.

"A couple of former big Eagles corners in Rasul Douglas and Josh Jobe went on to have success with other teams. Perhaps a scheme that better hides Ringo's limitations would be a better fit? He's big and fast and he's at least a good gunner on the punt coverage team. He'll be on NFL rosters for years, even if he never becomes a good corner."

Despite Ringo being an elite gunner on special teams, the Eagles have tried to play him on defense, and he has not been successful. A Day 3 pick would probably be the best Philly could do in a trade, but one that would work since the Eagles added safety J.T. Gray in the offseason, who would be a solid replacement for him.

Next up on Kempski's list is a name that has already been brought up: Dalton.

"The Eagles have four quarterbacks. If they're certain that McKee isn't going anywhere, then trading Dalton would make sense. Taking a quick look at all the quarterback situations around the league Dalton is better than the QB2s for contenders like the Bills, Patriots, Jaguars, Buccaneers, and Bears."

Rookie fifth-round pick Cole Payton complicates the Eagles' situation as he is seen as the future QB2 on the team, and McKee could end up staying one more year, leaving Dalton as the odd man out. A sixth or seventh round pick would work for Dalton as the Eagles need to add more Day 3 selections in the upcoming years.

One final player on the list is someone who underwhelmed badly for Philly last year: tight end Grant Calcaterra.

"Remember when the Eagles traded Harrison Bryant last training camp? I could see them dealing Calcaterra from some player who isn't going to make another team's roster. He's certainly expendable with Dallas Goedert, Eli Stowers, Johnny Mundt, and intriguing UDFA Dae'Quan Wright on the roster."

Calcaterra was arguably the worst blocking tight end on the roster last year, and the Eagles selected Eli Stowers in the second round to be the future TE1. Getting anything for Calcaterra would be a miracle, as he has just not lived up to expectations after showing some promise in 2024, filling in for Dallas Goedert when he was hurt.
