After seeing the behind-the-scenes video of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2026 NFL Draft, everything is coming into shape on how the weekend turned out.

Everyone knows the story already of the Eagles trading up to the Dallas Cowboys to move to pick 20 and select USC wide receiver Makai Lemon. How it all unfolded, though, made the situation more stressful than Eagles fans thought.

The Cowboys and Eagles were in contact about a trade, with Dallas wanting Philly's third-round pick, but Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said no because, as fans later found out, that 98th overall pick was used as part of the Jonathan Greenard trade with the Minnesota Vikings. Once the trade was done, Roseman and the Eagles tried to get Lemon on the phone to let him know he would be selected, but the Pittsburgh Steelers were talking to him, thinking they were getting him, which left Roseman in a bit of a panic.

"Can we not get him on the phone?!"

Eagles ended up getting their guy with Makai Lemon getting selected

In the end, the Eagles got their guy, talked to Lemon, and, a week later, signed him to a long-term new contract. Philly was able to save that 98th overall pick to get Greenard and further improve the roster.

It was a near-perfect execution from Roseman as he worked his way up the draft and got his guy. He was able to close some good deals in the process, adding a weapon on offense to replace A.J. Brown and a new veteran replacement for Jaelan Phillips after his departure to the Carolina Panthers.

Roseman certainly did what he did best and made the Eagles better for it. The 2026 season looks a lot better, and fans can be more optimistic with the work that was done on draft weekend.
