There might not be a team in the playoffs that is more banged up with injuries than the San Francisco 49ers, which is an advantage for their NFC Wild Card opponents, the Philadelphia Eagles.
One thing the Eagles were not anticipating was that a revenge game just got added to the schedule. That's because NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the 49ers are going to be signing linebacker Kyzir White.
San Francisco is bringing in White to help at linebacker with multiple guys out or injured, including Fred Warner, Dee Winters, Luke Gifford, and Tatum Bethune. White is set to play for the fifth NFL team of his career, which includes the Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Eagles, and now the 49ers.
Eagles facing a familiar face ahead of Wild Card showdown vs. 49ers
All Eagles fans might remember White vaguely, as he played for the team for only one season in 2022, when they lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs. White had the third-best statistical season of his career with 110 tackles, seven pass deflections, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks.
The only postseason experience White has in his NFL career is with the Eagles, where he played in three games and started one. He finished that playoff run with 11 tackles.
White would go on to follow former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon to Arizona with the Cardinals to play two seasons there. The Titans played White in one game this season.
From a competitive standpoint, this won't help the 49ers figure out how to deal with the Eagles, since White has been gone from the franchise for too long. What it will help with is getting a guy with starter experience who can step in right away and help in pass coverage and run-stopping.

The 49ers got reinforcements coming in to help a banged-up defense, but the Eagles should still be favored to win at home. It won't be as easy with White on the other side now.
