With cornerback Adoree' Jackson a free agent, the Philadelphia Eagles are back to square one at CB2 as they were at last offseason when they decided to release Darius Slay.

The Eagles have too many needs to address at cornerback in the draft, so they should focus on the draft and leave free agency to fix their CB2 problem, with general manager Howie Roseman needing to go cheap at the position. Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon has a good value signing at cornerback with the Kansas City Chiefs free agent Joshua Williams, and the Eagles being named as a potential landing spot.

"Williams is another under‑the‑radar option hitting the market after a largely forgotten 2025, but the underlying advanced stats and his intriguing combination of size, length and athleticism indicate he could still turn into a very good starter in this league."

Joshua Williams might be good option for Eagles at CB2

Kansas City selected Williams in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, where he racked up 91 tackles, 18 pass deflections, and one interception in the first three years. He went on to play just 17 defensive snaps in 2025 and was just a special teams player. Gagnon added more to the case for why Williams would be a good option.

"A 26-year-old former fourth-round pick, Williams ranked in the top 10 among qualified NFL corners in terms of yards allowed per target in both 2023 and 2024 before getting lost within a deep Kansas City secondary in 2025. He struggled as a rookie in 2022 but was on an upward trajectory before barely playing this year."

At 26, Williams is a younger option than Jackson is, which is what the Eagles can be okay with moving forward, since Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean were All-Pros now. Another good reason to have Williams is that he is everything Kelee Ringo has not been: a tall, 6-foot-3 coverage corner. Williams hasn't allowed a completion percentage over 56% in his entire NFL career, with the lowest at 44.8% in 2023, and he's only allowed a passer rating over 100 once in four years.

The Eagles need a young, cheap option that could start at CB2, and Williams seems to fit the profile of someone who would succeed in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's scheme.
