Philadelphia Eagles training camp is starting to see the best in players coming out, but it might be opening the door to possibilities that no one saw coming.
Eagles second-year player Ty Robinson did not see much action last season. Robinson was mostly a backup and,, more often wasn't even active for games. That put a lot of pressure on him entering OTAs and training camp this season.
OTAs last year showed a monster of a player who has a chance to have a great NFL career. Will this year's training camp show that? The signs are clearly starting to appear for Robinson.
Eagles might be looking at Ty Robinson as a guy to watch out for in 2026
Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo are the clear-cut starters on the defensive line in 2026. That doesn't leave many opportunities for Robinson to play, but training camp is giving him a shot to prove himself.
NJ.com Eagles reporter Cayden Steele highlighted a great practice for Robinson before the weekend. Robinson was first praised for his one-on-one drill, beating offensive lineman Drew Kendall twice. Steele reported that Robinson got some first-team reps with the starters.
Robinson played in just 11 games last season with 104 snaps on defense and 34 on special teams. He finished the year with five tackles, one quarterback hit, and one pass deflection.
The strength that Robinson has shown is what got everyone excited about seeing him last year. He may have a chance to prove himself this season, as the Eagles are incentivized to have him play well.
After giving Carter and Davis long-term contract extensions, the Eagles are trying to decide what to do about Ojomo since he is in the last year of his contract. If Robinson ends up becoming the guy Eagles fans hoped he would be, it might make it easier for them to move on from Ojomo after the season.
This season could open the door for Robinson to get more playing time, as long as they don't add anyone else to the roster. If Brandon Graham comes back, that could completely change the story about Robinson and might mean he gets fewer games where he is inactive.

Robinson is obviously making enough of an impression on defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to earn more reps. At this rate, the Eagles might be able to really showcase how good general manager Howie Roseman is in the draft by having Robinson have a breakout 2026 season.
