It lives again!

One offseason storyline that hasn't been talked about as much as it was last year was the Tush Push and whether Philadelphia Eagles fans would see it get banned again.

Last year, the Green Bay Packers submitted a proposal to ban the Tush Push, which was supported by multiple teams, including the Buffalo Bills. When the NFL owners put it to a vote in May, it did not receive enough votes for it to be banned, so it was legal to use in 2025.

This offseason seems very different, as the set of proposed rule changes has been submitted by NFL owners. Interestingly enough, none of them proposed the ban of the Tush Push, which is the first time that has happened in three years.

Eagles' Tush Push has lived on again for 2026

The vibes are different with the Tush Push, as most teams don't seem to care about the play as much. There might be a clear reason for that: it didn't work as well for the Eagles.

Philly struggled with using the play last season, as their efficiency was not good. Things got so bad with it that during the Black Friday game against the Chicago Bears, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had the ball ripped out of his hands, and the Bears recovered it.

While the Eagles still ran the Tush Push throughout the season, it was converted less often than in the past. During the Detroit Lions game last year, they stuffed the Tush Push more than once.

A lot of the Eagles' issues with the Tush Push could be due to center Cam Jurgens and left guard Landon Dickerson not being as healthy, which kept them from getting the kind of push they need. Some of it might be due to the issues with the offense, which is being run by former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

It would be surprising not to see the Eagles run the Tush Push in 2026, but it appears that even though leagues like the United Football League want to ban the play, the NFL seems to be okay with it.
