Eagles urged to add nine-touchdown pass catcher to already crowded WR room

Crowded wideout room already has plenty of mouths to feed.

While reports of A.J. Brown departing Philadelphia continue to churn out ad nauseam, a revamped Eagles' skill position group appears poised to move onward and upward.

Nonetheless, Tyler Dragon of USA Today penned a piece regarding the best projected landing spots for some of the big names still floating out there on the free agent market. According to Dragon, a familiar name from last year's wild card weekend could be a fit in Philadelphia: Jauan Jennings.

"The Eagles appear poised to trade A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots on or after June 1, when Brown's $40 million salary cap charge splits into two years. DeVonta Smith is more than capable of being Philly’s primary wideout, but he’s best as a Z receiver. First-round pick Makai Lemon is an ideal fit in the slot. Jennings could be inserted as the Eagles' X receiver.

Jennings led all San Francisco wideouts in catches (55) and receiving yards (643) a season ago. He’s also a threat in the red zone. His nine touchdown receptions last year led San Francisco and were a career-high."

Should the Eagles take a look at Jauan Jennings for the wide receiver room?

Yes, Jennings is a talented weapon who can make an impact wherever he lands, but the issue here is that Philadelphia already has a surplus of talent at the skill positions. With the draft weekend additions of potential offensive rookie of the year Makai Lemon and tight end Eli Stowers, Jalen Hurts now has a pair of dangerous rookies to do damage with.

And most importantly, it just doesn't sound like a strong fit personnel-wise. Newcomer Dontayvion Wicks figures to slot into the X spot formerly occupied by Brown, making the notion of adding Jennings redundant.

Wicks, along with Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore, are already joining Devonta Smith and Lemon, as well as returning wideouts Darius Cooper and Johnny Wilson.

This Eagles offense is ready to roll as currently constructed. There's no need to add anyone else to an already crowded wideout room, even with Brown preparing to exit stage left.
