Philadelphia Eagles fans have been through it with everything under the sun happening in just a span of a week.
It all started with the 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card game. That led to offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo being removed from his position with the Eagles and sparked a search for a new one.
One other player, though, has dominated the Philly sports headlines: wide receiver A.J. Brown, who had two bad drops, a sideline confrontation with head coach Nick Sirianni, and declined to speak to the media, all in a span of three hours during the 49ers game. The week continued with Eagles general manager Howie Roseman having to answer a question about whether they were considering trading Brown in the offseason, and closed out with a new report saying Brown had asked to be traded on multiple occasions.
That's a lot for Eagles fans to process about Brown, but that's just one week and doesn't include the multiple incidents that happened during the season with him. This might lead many to think that trading him could be the best course of action for the team
Eagles might have trade partner to connect with during the offseason for A.J. Brown
Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine made some predictions that would shape the offseason for the NFL. Ballentine likes the Eagles making a trade with the New England Patriots that would include Brown.
New England Patriots Get: A.J. Brown
Philadelphia Eagles Get: 2026 first-round pick, 2026 third-round pick, 2027 third-round pick
"All of that drama could lead to a trade, as ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that league executives believe the Eagles could be looking to move Brown this offseason. If so, there are plenty of teams that should be interested. Two of the most prominent ones are AFC East rivals in the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. Both are contenders who could use Brown as their WR1.
The move would put pressure on other AFC contenders to get aggressive to keep up with the Pats while shifting the Eagles offense in Philly."
Brown had the worst season as an Eagle as he went for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. He did close the season out strong with three 100-yard games in the last six contests, but missed out on being selected as an All-Pro or Pro Bowler for the first time since joining Philly in 2022.
While a trade like this would be great for the Eagles as they need the draft picks to rebuild the offense with younger players, this move would be a financial nightmare for Philly. The Eagles are about to have a $72 million dead cap hit from Brown in 2026, so unless Brown or the Patriots can help the team out financially, this is going to be tough for the Eagles to figure out.

No one can deny Brown's talent as a receiver, but whether people want to blame Patullo or Brown, it was a down year for the receiver, and he just didn't look as good as he has. The Eagles might have to consider making the move even if it sets them back financially for a while.
