This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles lost Jaelan Phillips as their top pass rusher, but adding more help at edge rusher to ensure that they don't miss a beat.

Jonathan Greenard was the biggest addition to the team after the Eagles traded for him from the Minnesota Vikings during the 2026 NFL Draft. During that same draft, the Eagles also selected Keyshawn James-Newby in the seventh round, and after the draft, they signed A.J. Epenesa during minicamp for depth.

Adding Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. to the mix gives the Eagles a pretty good edge rusher room built in Philly. Eagles fans shouldn't forget about one of their first offseason signings, who could really disrupt the edge rusher depth chart with a solid training camp performance.

Why Arnold Ebiketie is being overlooked as a key edge rusher on the depth chart

It certainly feels like everyone keeps forgetting how good Ebiketie could be for the Eagles in his first season with the franchise.

In his 67-game career over four years with the Atlanta Falcons, Ebiketie racked up 129 tackles, 41 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, six pass deflections, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Last season, despite having just two sacks, he recorded career highs in pass-rush win rate (16.8%) and pass-rush grade (73.4), according to Pro Football Focus.

Greenard is a lock to start on the Eagles' depth chart, but it will be up to someone else who starts. Hunt and Smith are expected to be the main competition there. Someone should tell the Eagles not to forget about Ebiketie there.

Sure, Ebiketie probably doesn't end up starting for the team unless injuries happen, but he has a high motor and is a great pass rusher with a lot of upside. He has only gotten better over the years, even if the sack numbers were down last season. It should be noted that even though he had two last year, he posted six sacks in 2023 and 2024, so he can be a difference-maker there.

More likely, Ebiketie and Epenesa will fight for rotational time on defense. Whoever loses that battle will end up being more of a special teams player.

Ebiketie is a young talent entering his fifth NFL season who has shown great ability to rush the passer and contribute to a team. The Eagles may not know it now, but they have a guy who can impact the game when they least expect it.
