The final inactive list for the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of the Week 17 showdown against the Buffalo Bills was released, and one surprise appeared on it.
To no one's surprise, linebacker Nakobe Dean and right tackle Lane Johnson were included on the inactive list, as they had already been ruled out with injuries. The big surprise was backup nickel corner Michael Carter II, as he was ruled out for the game.
Philly posted on social media just before the game that Carter was going to be out for the game due to a personal reason. He was the backup for the Eagles behind Cooper DeJean after being acquired in a trade from the New York Jets last month.
Eagles lose some depth players ahead of the Bills showdown
This will be the first game Carter has missed as an Eagle, as he has been primarily a special teams player who stepped in at nickel in the 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last month. Replacing Carter on the roster will be Mac McWilliams and Brandon Jackson as the new backups.
Johnson will be missing his fifth game of the season for the Eagles, and at this point will most likely be out for the rest of the regular season. Fred Johnson will be filling in at right tackle for Lane Johnson in the game.
Jihaad Campbell will be replacing Dean as the starting linebacker alongside Zack Baun. Campbell filled in for Dean earlier in the season through the first six games on defense.
Other notable players out include Josh Uche and A.J. Dillon, who have become staples on the inactive list. Sam Howell will serve as the third quarterback on the roster.

The Eagles may not have some key players in the game, but the official return of Jalen Carter will be massive for the defensive line. Now Philly needs to be zoned in on beating the Bills to get some momentum for the postseason.
