As the Philadelphia Eagles entered last season's NFC playoffs, many envisioned the team eventually facing the Seattle Seahawks. A win over San Francisco in the Wild Card round would have sent Philadelphia to Chicago next, and then Seattle would have been the final boss in the NFC Conference Championship, with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
Of course, a handcuffed Philadelphia offense couldn't cut loose when it mattered most, and as the playoffs unfolded, the Seahawks kept humming along to secure their first Super Bowl win since 2014.
This coming season, the two teams will meet for the first time since 2023 (a 20-17 Philadelphia win), and the upcoming December showdown could very well be the game of the year. Seattle has seemingly lost a bit of its luster, via free agent departures and coaching changes, and there's no doubt the Week 15 visit to Philadelphia will have the defending champions feeling the heat.
Eagles defense could feast on turnovers in showdown with Super Bowl champs
The off-season losses suffered by Seattle are significant. First, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak departed for the head coaching gig in Las Vegas, and standout running back Kenneth Walker is now in KC. Defenders Coby Bryant, Boye Mafe, and, of course, Riq Woolen are also no longer in the fold for the Hawks, and Woolen is the player who could absolutely disrupt this December matchup with Sam Darnold coming to town.
Darnold became just the third quarterback in league history to lead the league in turnovers and win a Super Bowl, joining only Eli Manning (2007) and Jim Kelly (1992) in winning it all despite such a penchant for losing possession. In this coming season's Week 15 visit to the Linc, Seattle will now have a new coordinator, and the same signal-caller who struggles to protect the rock will face what looks to be a top Philadelphia defensive unit built to wreak havoc and turn the ball over.
Darnold fumbled six times this past season, and the likes of Jalyx Hunt and Jonathan Greenard will pin their ears back to disrupt the signal-caller throughout. And when it's time to air it out, Darnold will be forced to stare down a familiar face in the Birds' secondary in Woolen.
Darnold, who also threw 14 interceptions in 2025, will be as susceptible as ever to serving up picks in this Week 15 affair. Woolen, who has 12 interceptions in his past four seasons, joins Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell in forming an airtight cornerback group that should leave Darnold with minimal room for error.

This Week 15 matchup is a ways off, of course, but for a home crowd that is always electric, this December showdown with Seattle could very well be the hottest ticket of the upcoming season.
