Eagles will tackle Rams without defensive starter and half of its dynamic duo
Welp... This is certainly not the story about the Philadelphia Eagles' roster that we hoped we'd write today. We were licking our chops and were all set to dive into injury concerns and one of the offense's stars being medically cleared for action.
We intended to highlight DeVonta Smith and tell you he'd be ready for Week 12's game vs. the Los Angeles Rams. What can we say? Sometimes things don't work out as we plan.
Oh well. Let's get on with it. So, here's what we're seeing and hearing as we begin to put cappers on another Eagles work day.
DeVonta Smith is ruled out of the Eagles Week 12 game vs. The L.A. Rams. Bryce Huff heads to injured reserve.
Name someone with DeVonta Smith's body type who is built tougher. Don't worry. We'll wait. You can't think of anyone, can you? There may be guys who are just as solid, but no one is tougher.
Once upon a time, we held our breath every time he was hit, and we've been doing so since he carved a place out for himself as a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
They don't call him the Slim Reaper for nothing though. Skinny Batman never stopped being skinny, but he's as durable as they come despite being simultaneously mortal
So, Smith is human. Oh well... DeVonta has been dealing with a lingering hamstring issue for a while now. He carried that into Week 12's game vs. the Washington Commanders but played all four quarters and finishing the game upright..
We've seen glimpses of him limping off the field and into the locker room after that one. The prognosis isn't good for this week's Sunday Night Football affair.
He wasn't on the field for the Eagles' indoor practice session on Friday. He's been ruled out of the coming game vs. the Los Angeles Rams in primetime. Philly also announced after head coach Nick Sirianni informed the media that Bryce Huff will undergo surgery, the recently acquired edge rusher will be placed on Philly's injured reserve.
Check out the Philadelphia Eagles' full injury report from Friday. Further roster updates will be shared on Saturday. Inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff.
Here's the Bryce Huff announcement offered by Philly's social media team.
With Smith and Huff out of the lineup, stars will be asked to step up, but if you haven't heard, Philly has plenty on both sides of the ball.
Expect big games from AJ. Brown, Saquon Barkley, and Dallas Goedert in DeVonta's absence. Reinforcements may also be coming in the form of Britain Covey. A 21-day window was opened for him, and per the Eagles' Friday afternoon injury report, he's questionable for the game on Sunday.
