6 Eagles starters land on the first Week 4 injury report
The Philadelphia Eagles began preparation for their Week 4 game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. Six players sat out of practice. All were starters. Nothing was surprising except for Landon Dickerson's mention.
Britain Covey is on the Eagles' injured reserve, so Philly might be without their top three wide receivers on Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed, but in the meantime, here's the rundown on what we have learned.
A.J. Brown, wide receiver (DNP)
We may be facing the prospect of enduring a third straight game without A.J. Brown. He continues to work his way back from a hamstring injury, and he did not participate in Wednesday's walkthrough. Keep an eye on Number 11's progress.
Lane Johnson, right tackle (DNP)
Lane Johnson showed up at the practice facility today with no intention of participating (understandably), but his presence is an indication that he's progressing through the concussion protocol.
DeVonta Smith, wide receiver (DNP)
DeVonta Smith is also working his way back from a concussion. He didn't participate and wasn't expected to. He isn't expected to play on Sunday, but if it brings you any comfort, Khristian Boyd has been fined $4,600 for last Sunday's dirty and illegal hit.
Mekhi Becton, right guard (LP)
Mekhi Becton was at practice but didn't participate. He said he tore a ligament in his left ring finger, but he'll be good to play on Sunday. He'll be good to play on Sunday and will be wearing a cast to protect his injury.
Landon Dickerson, left guard (LP)
Landon Dickerson popped up on the injury report with a wrist issue. He was a limited participant on Wednesday. Let's hope he's good to go on Sunday.
Darius Slay, cornerback
Darius Slay isn't taking the unnecessary hit on DeVonta Smith or being driven into the bench lightly. Nor, should he.
It was good to see him at practice though. Despite the knee issue he's recovering from, he was a full participant at practice on Wednesday.
