Bold predictions for the Eagles offense and Jalen Hurts in Week 2 vs. Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles offense will correct the mistakes and deliver a more polished offensive effort in Week 2.

One week at a time is the approach. The buzz generated by a monstrous Saquon Barkley debut in Philadelphia Eagles green has subsided... Or, in this case, a debut in black and white with green trim... The Birds return stateside to play in a true home opener in front of the sometimes-friendly fans who will pack Lincoln Financial Field.

Don't mind us! We can tease Birds fans because we're among the contingent. Hey, it isn't our fault we never learned the difference between 'passion' and 'lunacy'.

We're getting off track here. Let's reel it in. Here's the point. Everyone is excited, and those who pack The Linc will be in full throat for Monday Night Football. The visiting team, the Atlanta Falcons are going to feel like they're under attack, especially once Philadelphia's offense gets rolling and starts lighting up the scoreboard.

Let's talk about bold predictions.

Jalen Hurts scores his first (and second) rushing TDs of the season.

Jalen Hurts didn't enjoy his best game during Week 1 of the regular season. That's an understatement. He threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.

Here's what's funny about that. He still threw for 278 yards and two TDs. Think about how good he would have been had he played a clean game.

This week, he gets that done, and by the way, the designed runs aren't going anywhere. Neither is the Brotherly Love (even if we disapprove). Week 1's rushing total of 33 yards feels like a decent benchmark.

We'll bump that up to 50 yards and call for two rushing TDs. One comes by way of the QB sneak in this one.

The Eagles rack up four touchdowns and over 400 yards of offense.

We mentioned last week's miscues. It's amazing that an offense can be so good that they can turn the ball over three times and still stack 34 points and 410 yards of offense.

Truthfully, the only thing that can stop the Eagles' offense is the Eagles' offense. If they don't stifle themselves, the potential to be great is endless.

So, after tallying impressive numbers in Brazil, we're calling for them to exceed what we witnessed last week, Four more TDs and another 400 yards of offense help write the tale in a game that looks cleaner offensively.

Philly's offense controls the clock and plays turnover-free football.

The numbers are slightly disturbing. Jalen Hurts threw 19 TDs during his first 45 games played during the regular season. He has thrown 17 TDs during his 18 most recent.

Jalen knows he needs to protect the football, and now that the Week 1 jitters are behind him, we believe he won't play hero ball. An effective rushing attack will help Philly control time of possession, something they did in Week 1. They'll also leave this one with zero Interceptions thrown and zero fumbles lost.

The Eagles win this one by two touchdowns.

Atlanta has a ton of young offensive talent: Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Ray-Ray McCloud, Kyle Pitts, and Tyler Allgeier. This team can still only fly as high as their quarterback Kirk Cousins takes them.

Kirk has caused Philly some issues in the past. He owns a 6-5 record versus the good guys as a starter, but it feels like the Eagles have his number now. He's dropped his last two. Both losses came as the Minnesota Vikings QB1 in Week 2 of the 2022 and 2023 NFL seasons.

Cousins is also dealing with some turnover concerns of his own. He tossed two picks in Week 1 and may have tossed another had it not been for a phenomenal catch by Ray-Ray McCloud.

The Falcons are going to score some points, but this team isn't as good as Philadelphia is. The Eagles win this one going away. We're calling for a two-TD margin.
