Eagles announce three roster moves, make decisions on Julio Jones and Cam Jurgens
At this point, even if you're a casual fan, you've probably already figured out that there are no days off with this Philadelphia Eagles franchise or its roster. Wait a second... Who are we kidding? 'Casual' Birds fans don't exist.
At the time of this story being written, it hasn't even been 24 hours since the NFL closed the door on every team's option to make trades for the rest of the current NFL season. As far as the day-to-day business model at the NovaCare Complex goes, executive vice president/general manager Howie Roseman is busy.
Philly announced three roster moves on November's first calendar day. One involved a second-year star. Another.... a future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee.
The Eagles open 21-day practice window for Cam Jurgens and promote Julio Jones to the 53-man roster.
It's been a while since we have seen Cam Jurgens. Injured in a Week 4 game and added to the injured reserve on October 7th, sitting out of the Eagles past four games now means he is eligible to return to the lineup. We may be one step closer to seeing him do so.
Philadelphia opened a 21-day practice window for him on Wednesday. That means they can elevate him from the I.R. to the 53-man roster at any point during the next three weeks. If they elect against doing so, he returns to the I.R. for the remainder of the season.
That brings us to Julio Jones.
Signed to the Birds' practice squad on October 17th, he has been elevated from the scout team twice for Philly's two most recent regular-season games. Each practice squad player can be elevated a maximum of three times. The Birds have determined that they have seen enough.
Julio has now been signed to the Eagles' 53-man roster to fill the open spot created by Philly's decision to trade Kentavius Street to the Atlanta Falcons. To fill the open spot on the scout team, they added tight end E.J. Jenkins, possibly to give them another body at the position now that Grant Calcaterra is concussed.
Hopefully, Jurgens is activated to the roster ahead of Sunday's game. Perhaps you have heard. The Birds have a huge game this week versus the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaking of that huge game, FanDuel Sportsbook has a $150 sign-up bonus available for Eagles fans this week! New users who bet $5 or more on the Eagles' moneyline vs. the Cowboys will win $150 in bonus bets if Philly wins! Sign up for FanDuel now!
