Some guys are just different. Throughout the Philadelphia Eagles' nine decades of existence, many guys have lined up behind center to play quarterback. Most won't be remembered. Only one can say he led Philly to its first Super Bowl win.

Yes, Nick Foles' journey was unique. One day we're going to be old and writing stories about the NFL's history and some of the most unbelievable (and beautiful) careers we have witnessed. When we do so, we'll mention guys like Kurt Warner and Nick Foles.

As promised, the Eagles give Nick Foles a sendoff to remember.

Nick's story isn't identical to Kurt's. Nick didn't bag groceries or play in the Arena League. Nick was a third-round draft choice whose entire story played out in the NFL, but like Warner, Foles was forged through fire and adversity as pressure gave birth to a true diamond.

Nick's story includes stops in Saint Louis, Kansas City, Jacksonville, Chicago, and Indianapolis. 20 years from now, it's doubtful anyone will remember that.

Nick's true Eagles story began as the 2012 NFL Draft's 88th overall selection. Two stints in the City of Brotherly Love (2012-14 and 2017-18) gave birth to records and, yes, Philly's first Vince Lombardi Trophy.

He announced his retirement on August 8th. Later that day, the Eagles organization announced he'd officially hang the cleats up by putting pen to paper on September 16th and that he'd be honored during Monday Night Football at halftime of Eagles vs. Falcons.

Saint Nick's sendoff has been A-1. He's all smiles, and so are we. Check out some of the highlights, including his retirement presser.

One day, young Eagles fans will walk by his statue outside of Lincoln Financial Field, one depicting the Philly Special call in Super Bowl LII. They'll ask mom and dad who those guys are. Won't mom and dad have quite the story to tell?

Once upon a time. He tied a record for TD passes in a game (eight). He's also the co-owner of the NFL's record for consecutive pass completions (25). He's pro football's record holder for playoff career completion percentage (68.1%).

Foles is a 2013 Pro Bowler, a Super Bowl Champion, and a Super Bowl MVP. He's our Saint Nick, an Eagle for life and a future franchise Hall of Famer.
