Eagles star Haason Reddick sits out of first practice of training camp

We think we have figured it out... maybe. All spring and summer, we have discussed how difficult it is for teams that lost the Super Bowl to get back to the big game. No Philadelphia Eagles fan needs to be reminded of why that's an important discussion, but here's what we're thinking might be one of the tumbling blocks. It's hard to stay in the moment and avoid the temptation of looking past the regular season and focusing on what needs to be done in January.

That won't be an issue for the Birds in 2023. They're a one-day-at-a-time bunch. They're well-led. They're stocked with talent, and there always seems to be something pressing going on in the present tense. Don't look now, but we're already discussing injuries, and Haason Reddick is among the walking wounded.

It's July. There is no need to panic, but when have we ever heard about injury issues and avoided related conversations, especially when starters are mentioned?

As this story is being written and published, the Eagles are ending their first training camp practice and working their way through what has been a busy day. Since players reported for work on Tuesday, five roster moves have been announced. Three guys that we figure to discuss often on the defensive side of the ball sat out of the first workout session.

Before we go any further, we'd like to reiterate that there's no need to panic. It's early in the process, but we must make mention of Haason Reddick sitting out of practice on July 26th. He's dealing with some groin soreness, but he's expected to return to work this weekend.

Fellow starter Avonte Maddox and reserve defensive end Derek Barnett worked, but they were limited. The former is working through a toe issue. The latter is dealing with some discomfort in his knee.
